Lauren
Lauren’s journey in early childhood education began in 2009, when she took on a relieving role and quickly discovered her passion for supporting tamariki as they explore, wonder, and make sense of the world around them. Since then, Lauren has gained over 12 years of experience teaching in a variety of early childhood settings across the Selwyn community, working with children of all ages and stages.
In 2010, Lauren stepped away from teaching to focus on raising her own whānau. She is a proud and devoted mum and step mum to five beautiful children who keep her busy with sports, dance, school events, and plenty of laughter and joy. Her experiences as a parent have enriched her understanding of child development and strengthened her commitment to creating strong, trusting relationships with tamariki and whānau.
During the 2020 lockdown, Lauren felt a renewed calling to early childhood education and made the decision to return to study and reignite her professional journey.
Lauren joined the Dunsandel teaching team in 2022, bringing with her a vibrant energy, thoughtful practice, and deep dedication to nurturing the holistic wellbeing of tamariki. She believes every child is a unique taonga – deserving of love, respect and a strong sense of belonging.
With a passion for outdoor learning, Lauren sees nature as a powerful and authentic provocation for curiosity, creativity, and growth. She is committed to creating warm, responsive environments where children feel safe, empowered, and inspired to learn in ways that are meaningful to them.
