Lucinda
Lucinda joined the Dunsandel Childcare & Preschool team in 2022, bringing with her a deep passion for supporting the emotional wellbeing of tamariki – a journey she believes begins in the earliest years of life. She understands that forming respectful, responsive relationships is key to helping children feel safe, valued, and confident in themselves. Through these strong connections, Lucinda empowers tamariki to believe in their own abilities and approach learning with a sense of curiosity and self-assurance.
Graduating in 2021 with a Level 7 Bachelor of Early Childhood Education from Te Rito Maioha Early Childhood New Zealand, Lucinda brings a thoughtful and reflective approach to her teaching. She values the importance of identity and belonging, and works closely with whānau to understand each child’s unique background and experiences. By weaving together the home environment and centre learning, she supports tamariki in making sense of the world around them in meaningful, culturally connected ways.
Before entering formal teaching, Lucinda was actively involved in Playcentre, where she and her husband enjoyed hands-on involvement in the learning journeys of their two daughters, now teenagers. This experience further strengthened her commitment to child-led learning and whānau engagement.
Lucinda’s calm, nurturing presence and strong belief in the potential of every child make her a valued and respected member of our preschool whānau. We are lucky to have her on our team.
