Livvy

Role: Teacher

Livvy became part of the Dunsandel Childcare & Preschool team in 2023, bringing with her a warm, creative presence and a genuine passion for nurturing tamariki through artistic exploration. She currently lives in Leeston with her partner Mitchell, their daughter Sofia.

Livvy’s teaching philosophy is grounded in the belief that creativity is a powerful vehicle for learning, connection, and emotional growth. With a strong artistic flair, she integrates a wide range of creative experiences into her daily practice – from open-ended art projects to imaginative play and sensory exploration. She views art not just as an activity, but as a language through which tamariki can express their ideas, navigate challenges, and develop a stronger sense of identity and self-worth.

In the Pukeko building, Livvy works predominantly with our four-year-old tamariki, creating a rich, stimulating environment where curiosity, imagination, and individuality are celebrated. Her calm and encouraging nature helps children feel confident in taking risks, trying new things, and developing their own creative voices. She is intentional in how she sets up learning spaces – using colour, texture, and thoughtful provocations to invite wonder, experimentation, and collaboration.

Relationship-building is at the heart of Livvy’s approach. She takes the time to get to know each child and whānau, recognising the importance of connection, trust, and open communication. She honours each tamaiti as a unique and capable learner, embracing their ideas and supporting their learning journeys in meaningful, respectful ways.
