Katie

Katie joined Dunsandel Childcare & Preschool in 2024, bringing warmth, creativity, and a positive energy to our teaching team. Originally from the UK, Katie moved to New Zealand in 2021 with her husband and three children. Two of her children now attend primary school, while her youngest is still enjoying their early years at preschool.

Katie has a naturally bubbly and outgoing personality, and her genuine love for working with tamariki shines through in everything she does. She is flexible and adaptable, thriving in all three of our preschool classrooms. Whether she’s engaging with our youngest pēpi or supporting our busy four-year-olds, Katie brings patience, empathy, and enthusiasm to every age group. Her ability to quickly connect with children and create a sense of calm and fun makes her a valued presence throughout the centre.

Katie is also incredibly creative. She runs a small side business designing and making personalised items, and she loves incorporating arts and crafts into her teaching practice to inspire tamariki to explore their own creativity. At home, she fosters cats and enjoys spending time outdoors—especially riding horses when she has the chance.

Katie is passionate about raising her family in the safe, close-knit environment of rural Aotearoa and feels lucky to be part of the Dunsandel community. Her kindness, adaptability, and joy for teaching make her a much-loved member of our team.
