Lisa Taiaroa
Lisa has dedicated over 20 years to working with and learning alongside young children, bringing deep experience, warmth, and strong leadership to her role at Dunsandel Childcare & Preschool. Her journey in early childhood education began in 1998, when she completed her National Nanny Certificate. With a natural talent for nurturing and supporting tamariki, Lisa moved to Sydney, Australia, where she worked as a professional nanny. During this time, she gained valuable hands-on experience with children across a wide range of ages and family dynamics.
After returning home to New Zealand, Lisa continued her path in early childhood education, joining the Dunsandel team in 2002. Her commitment to children’s wellbeing and her ability to build strong, trusting relationships quickly made her a valued member of the team. In 2008, her leadership potential was formally recognised when she was offered the position of Centre Manager – a role she continues to hold with pride and purpose.
As Centre Manager, Lisa leads with care, integrity, and a clear vision for creating a nurturing, inclusive environment for all tamariki, whānau, and staff. Her extensive knowledge of the ECE sector and calm, thoughtful presence are reflected in the respectful relationships she fosters within the centre. She is passionate about mentoring kaiako, supporting professional growth, and encouraging reflective, collaborative practice.
Outside of the centre, Lisa is a devoted mum to her three children; Lukas, Stella, and Eva – all of whom have been part of the Dunsandel Preschool whānau.
